THIS IS A GREAT COMFORT FOOD.IT IS SIMPLE AND DELICIOUS.THIS IS A MEAL MY DAUGHTER AND I LOVE MAKING TOGETHER.WE HAVE FOUND USING QUICK GRITS AND ADDING CRACKER BARREL SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESE IS AN EASY ALTERNATIVE TO MAKING HOMEMADE CHEESE GRITS AND TASTE JUST AS GOOD.I HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ENJOY.

  • 2 pound(s) MEDIUM SIZE RAW SHRIMP
  • 5 piece(s) COOKED BACON CHOPPED
  • 8 ounce(s) FRESH MUSHROOMS SLICED
  • 3 clove(s) GARLIC MINCED
  • 1/2 cup(s) LEMON JUICE
  • 1/2 cup(s) GREEN ONION SLICED
  • 2 teaspoon(s) HOT SAUCE
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) SALT
  • 6 cup(s) COOKED GRITS
  • 1 block(s) SHARP CRACKLE BARREL CHEESE SHREDDED

Preparation

  1. *PEEL SHRIMP;DEVEIN,IF DESIRED.
  2. *COOK BACON TILL CRISPY,DRAIN ON PAPER TOWEL.RESERVING DRIPPINGS IN SKILLET.
  3. *SAUTE MUSHROOMS IN HOT DRIPPINGS UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
  4. *ADD SHRIMP AND SAUTE 3 MIN.OR UNTIL PINK.
  5. *ADD GARLIC AND SAUTE 1 MIN.,DO NOT BROWN GARLIC.
  6. *ADD LEMON JUICE AND NEXT THREE INGREDIENTS.
  7. SERVE OVER WARM CHEESE GRITS AND GARNISH WITH CRUMBLED BACON.
