Tamale Pie with Cornbread Batter

Ingredients

  • 1 pound(s) Ground Beef Browned
  • 1/2 whole(s) Medium Onion Chopped
  • 3 clove(s) Garlic Minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) Oregano
  • 1 -8 oz can(s) Rotel
  • 1 can(s) Ranch Style Beans
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Chili Powder
  • CORNBREAD BATTER
  • 1/2 cup(s) Cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup(s) Flour
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon(s) Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) Salt
  • 1/2 cup(s) Milk
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Oil
  • 1 whole(s) Egg
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Jalapeno Peppers (Optional)
  • 1/3 cup(s) Cheddar Cheese 1/2-inch cubes

Preparation

FILLING:

Brown meat and onions, drain, add tomato sauce, beans, chili powder, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper to taste. Add enough water so mixture is covered. Simmer 15-20 minutes. Pour into a 2 quart baking dish and top with cornbread batter.

Bake in 425° oven 25 minutes.
