Sweet Skillet Turnips

Yield Makes 2 to 3 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 pound turnips, peeled and shredded
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

How to Make It

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add onion, and sauté 3 to 5 minutes or until tender.

  2. Stir in turnips and remaining ingredients. Cook, stirring often, 20 minutes or until turnips are tender. (Turnips will turn a light brown-caramel color as they cook.)
