I fixed this as a side dish for my husband and I over the weekend...I substituted fat-free evaporated milk for the half and half as another reviewer suggested, and it was still delicious! I also used the Splenda brown sugar blend instead of regular brown sugar and used half of the recommended amount in the filling, but the regular amount in the topping. Delicious! Will definitely make again, especially over the holidays!

I made this recipe for Thanksgiving with my family in 2006 - at the time, I didn't even like sweet potatoes! My family raved about this recipe and devoured it (and I tried it and loved it). I actually logged on tonight in hopes of finding this recipe again so I can make it for my husband's family as we travel to them this Thanksgiving - you won't regret making this dish!!! And it's really quite simple. Do be warned it is a little sweet, but that's what my family loved about it...they were eating it long after the dishes were cleared.

This was so delicious, I would make for dessert in the future, actually family ate leftovers for dessert.

I love sweet potatoes and this is my favorite sweet potato casserole recipe. I lighten it a bit further by substituting fat-free evaporated milk for the half and half.

WOW! This is really great. I replaced the half and half with fat-free evaporated milk and it worked out great. I made this on Christmas Eve for a large family dinner and everyone raved about it. Some family who didn't like sweet potatoes are now fans. This is a great dish.

I make this recipe exactly for every holiday dinner. It is always a favorite. It is fantastic cold, leftover the next day. It is also a dish that can be made and then left on the stove and eaten room temperature. This year I plan on making 2 pans because we really like the leftovers as much as we do the day of!!

This is the best sweet potato casserole I have ever eaten or made! I have been making this recipe for the past 4 thanksgivings and I am not allowed to show up to any family thanksgiving without it! I have even converted the people who don't like sweet potato casserole with this dish! To save time (and my sanity), I use two of the large cans of canned yams and it tastes fantastic!

This was a huge hit with my family this year--my husband NEVER eats the sweet potatoes and he even said he'd like me to make this dish again.

My family made sweet potatoes the same way my whole life and it was my favorite part of Thanksgiving - until I found and tried this recipe. It is so much better than the canned yams with butter, brown sugar and marshmallows we used to eat. This is my new tradition and it is the one thing I look forward to the most on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I do add extra marshmallows, for a taste of tradition - that was what we always looked forward to as kids. I even eat the leftovers for breakfast and not one bite goes to waste. I plan to make this every year for the foreseeable future. You have got to try it!

Best sweet potatoes I have ever made! Everyone loved these and the leftovers were delicious. I did not toast the pecans before sprinkling a few on the top. (didn't have stovetop space) I will definitely make this every Thanksgiving, and maybe some other times too :)

This is my favorite! I make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year. The perfect sweet potato casserole. I buy the large can of sweet potatoes to make things easier.

Great recipe! Me and my kids did this for snack and my kids asked for us to make some more! We used to have the Chocolate Custard Pie Recipe we found on GourmetRecipe.com but it's nice to try new things. I often check it out for recipes and cooking information including this website, KraftRecipes.com, ZCockTails.com, Pepperecipes.com, Gourmandia.org.uk for different moods and occasions. Thanks for this appetizing recipe! By the way, here's the link to the mentioned recipe: www.gourmetrecipe.com/recipes/chocolate-custard-pie-recipe TheStudentBiz.com and VU247.com are also my favorites.

i made this using fat free half & half, egg beaters & no one could tell the difference. a relative took the leftovers home because of course no kids would touch it. if they had only tasted it, they would have loved it.

I rarely give 5s but this dish is deserving. I have made it twice a year since it was in the November '06 magazine. My children are now in college and make sure the sweet potato casserole is on the menu when they come home for Thanksgiving. The sweetness blends well with the savory turkey, dressing, etc. and the leftovers serve as a good base for sweet potato biscuits I make on Friday to use with turkey sandwiches.

This was a hit even. I got the kids to try it also and they said it was good.

Everyone liked this. Tried it as a replacement for my regular heavy sweet potato casserole and it didn't even come close unfortunately in taste. I'll try a different recipe next year even though everyone liked it.
