Sweet-and-Sour Pot Roast

Yield Makes 8 to 10 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 (4-pound) eye of round roast
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

How to Make It

  1. Brown roast on all sides in hot oil in a large Dutch oven. Add thinly sliced onion and remaining ingredients.

  2. Bake, covered, at 300° for 3 hours or until tender.
