This was a great success at breakfast with my brother and his family. I have made this twice, once using the sauce recipe included and another time using a jar of caramel ice-cream topping. If you are short of time, I'd recommend using already prepared caramel topping. It's even better and saves time.

This is a good recipe, but truthfully I don't think it's worth the trouble. I served it to friends and they agreed it was good, but felt there was alot going on with it and preferred more traditional flavors (we taste-tested it with the Easy French Toast Casserole). The caramel sauce takes much longer than the 10 mins listed in the recipe - it took almost that for my sugar to dissolve into the water - and probably another 15 mins for the sugar to turn golden. So I'm standing at the stove trying to hurry the whole thing along so I can get it in the oven to be ready when friends arrive. I'd say prep on this is about an hour with all the slicing bread, spreading jelly, whisking eggs, and then the caramel sauce! honestly, it just wasn't worth all the effort. Try the easy french toast casserole - or the Berry French Toast. I won't be making this again simply because there are better recipes.
