Spotted Dog
My grandmother would feed everybody who came in the door. We'd start with 10 and end up with 25 for dinner, says Robert Black Bull, a Blackfoot artist in Browning, Montana. "We would eat dried meat, potatoes, berry soup, bannock bread, spotted dog. Spotted dog is like rice pudding with raisins—no dog. Guess someone made it and thought it looked like their spotted dog."
