Comes together easily and tastes wonderful. Also, made it with a loaf of beer bread. The warm feeling lasted all day long.

This was very simple and turned out delicious. I used real bacon instead of the canadian bacon and crisped it in the dutch oven before putting in the other ingredients. I discarded all but 2 Tbs of the bacon grease. I will now be using this as my split pea recipe, no longer the crock pot version.

My whole family loves this soup. I actually add 1 tsp cloves to it as well - sounds odd, but tastes great. My mother always added the cloves when she made pea soup.

Simple and delicious, just like when we were kids. We used ham instead of Canadian bacon. All of my split peas disintegrated...not too sure if that was supposed to happen...

I've made this several times. Delicious! Can substitute bell pepper for celery if necessary.

This was very tasty, a good solid three-four star dish. I'm upping it to a full 4 stars because it is SO EASY! I substituted a ham hock rather than all of the bacon, but otherwise stuck to the recipe as written.

This is my consistent "go to" split pea soup recipe. I do however make a couple of tweaks. I use center cut bacon instead of Canadian bacon, and I cut up 1 potato, and add that to the vegetable mixture. Perfect every time!

great flavor, was a little thin the first night. Leftovers thickened some. I used 2 C carrots (because I love carrots in soup) and 2 C ham instead of Canadian bacon. I added the ham along with the celery and carrots - just seemed like a more reasonable amount of time to cook it. I also used slightly more peas than called for - just used the whole bag. My broth was 1/2 homemade ham broth and 1/2 chicken stock.

This is a good, solid recipe and I will be happy to make it again. I would use a bit more peas because the soup was a little thinner than I would have liked, but it's super simple and tasty. I used ham instead of Canadian bacon and it substituted well.
