Spicy Sauce

2 cups ketchup
2 cups water
2 large sweet onions, sliced
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
1 bay leaf


Bring all ingredients to a boil in a Dutch oven over medium heat; reduce heat to low. Cook 1 hour. Cool. Discard bay leaf.
