Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the asparagus and cook for 3 to 5 minutes, until just tender. Drain.
Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Sauté the garlic cloves until softened but not browned. Add the asparagus and sprinkle with salt and red pepper flakes. Sauté 2 to 3 minutes.
