Southern Sweet Tea Granita

Oxmoor House
Yield Serves 8 (serving size: 1/2 cup)
A long steep draws out the deeper flavors of the tea; take care not to squeeze the tea bags to avoid making the granita bitter. Garnish the granita with lemon or mint sprigs, if desired.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 3 English breakfast or other black tea bags
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)

  3. Pour tea mixture into an 11 x 7-inch glass or ceramic baking dish. Cover and freeze until partially frozen (about 1 hour). Scrape with a fork, crushing any lumps. Freeze, scraping with a fork every 30 minutes, 1 hour or until completely frozen.
