Ingredients
- 2 cup(s) flour
- 1 teaspoon(s) baking powder
- 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
- 1 teaspoon(s) salt
- 3 tablespoon(s) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cup(s) sugar
- 2/3 cup(s) vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup(s) buttermilk
- 2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
- 1 ounce(s) red food coloring
- 1/4 teaspoon(s) white distilled vinegar
- 1/2 cup(s) coffee prepared normally
- Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
- 4 cup(s) powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup(s) unsalted sweetcream butter softened
- 2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
- 6 tablespoon(s) milk
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Gease and flour 2 8" or 9" cake pans.
- Mix together first 5 ingredients and set aside. (Dry ingredients)
- Gradually mix together remaining (wet) ingredients Then combine dry and wet mixing until just blended.
- Pour batter evenly into cake pans.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or nearly clean.
- Allow cake to cool in pans 10 minutes before transfer to cooling racks. Allow cakes to cool entirely before frosting.
- Buttercream Frosting
- Combine sugar, softened butter and vanilla. Add milk as needed until desired consistency is reached.
