Sour Cream Coleslaw

1 (16-ounce) container sour cream
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 to 3 teaspoons caraway or celery seeds
1 teaspoon salt
1 small head cabbage, shredded (15 cups)
1/2 medium-size green bell pepper, diced
3 tablespoons minced purple onion


Stir together first 5 ingredients in a large bowl; add cabbage, bell pepper, and onion, tossing well. Chill 8 hours, if desired.
