sounds great however I question the addition of water to the melted chocolate for the frosting. I've always read that chocolate and water don't mix; water usually makes chocolate seize. Is this a misprint?

This was fine, if a little lacking in moisture. Not to say it was dry but it wasn't the fantastic. My main issue was that the frosting didn't come near to covering the cake. I only used a cup between the layers and that was even quite skimpy. It covered half the cake with a light layer. Doubling the frosting, at least, would probably give this a four star.

Question--this says cake is 53 calories. This must be a mistake!!

It was a good cake... but the batter needed more sugar.. and I would recommend an extra egg.. and the frosting tasted more like butter than chocolate so i stirred in more melted chocolate chips.

75 grams of fat gross

commenting on the calories, it would be 1100 per slice, with 75 grs of fat per serving, and 98 carbs/ 10 protein. Seems odd it could have that much fat since 6 oz of bittersweet chocolate only has 60 grams of fat. But, add in 176gr from the butter & 18gr from the eggs and it's 25 grams of fat in the icing. Sounds good, but is terribly high in saturated fat! (i love butter!!) agree on the water comment... it would seize up the chocolate!

I think anybody that is concerned about fat and calories shouldn't make or eat cake!!
