Sorry! If you want sweet bacon, buy it, as in sweet applewood. Yes! Nueske's does make a good bacon so don't mess with it. This is a superfluous recipe & won't try again. Bacon is bacon & is good as it is. Why create extra work to TRY to make a new improved something? It's bacon & should be served as such.
Smoky Brown Sugar Bacon
This bacon takes a little while to prepare, but it's more than worth it. The aroma alone gets our highest rating.
More From Oxmoor House
- 3 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 24 slices applewood smoked bacon (we tested with Nueske's)*
- Spread brown sugar onto a large plate; dredge half of bacon in sugar, pressing to be sure plenty of sugar sticks to both sides of bacon. Place bacon in a single layer on a large baking rack on an aluminum foil-lined rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 425° for 18 to 20 minutes or until crisp. Remove bacon from rack to a serving platter or parchment paper to cool. Repeat with remaining bacon and brown sugar.
- *We used 1 1/2 (1-lb.) packages Nueske's applewood smoked bacon to yield the 24 slices; otherwise, any thick-cut bacon, smoked or not, would also work fine in this recipe.
