Delicious! The smoked sea salt really gives these a gourmet flair. Definitely worthy of a place on the Christmas candy tray!

What is candy coating chocolate? I made my own chocolate concoction and these turtles were amazing, but I can't give it 5 stars. I wish they would explain or give a substitution. I used a mixture of semi, unsweetened and bitter.... i don't know the measurements. I just added a little her and there until I had a good tasting mixture.

Excellent but they are a little sticky. I used a little less water the second time and I think that was better. I will consider making my own carmel next time rather than using the candies.

You can find chocolate candy coating at most craft shops. I use the Wilton's brand for my peppermint bark and it's always a big hit. It worked beautifully for this, as well. They have bags of little chocolate-flavored discs that melt nicely and evenly. You can buy different flavors, colors, etc. They usually have regular chocolate, dark, white in stock all year long.
