I cut the amount of sugar in half and found it was still a little too sweet for my tastes. It was simple to make and the flavor was good. Will make again using 1/3 of the sugar.

Excellent recipe and easy. My mother and I altered it to reduce the vinegar taste: 2 T. vinegar and 6 T. apple juice concentrate. Turns out perfect every time. Also, we used freshly gound nutmeg.

I read the other comments and decided to use 1/3 of the sugar and then added it slowly tasting it after it had been well stirred. I ended up using 1/3 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of white sugar, which is A LOT less than called for in the original recipe. My crockpot seems to cook fast so I only cooked it 3 hours to begin with and then about 2 hours after I added the sugars. Delicious!
