Sloppy Joes with Corn

This definitely has potential. I doubled or tripled all the spices and used salt-included ingredients instead of the sodium-free, but it was still bland. My family ate it but it needed more flavor. Next time I will add the brown sugar, ground mustard and cayenne suggested in the reviews. That ought to kick it up a notch. The recipe is worth experimenting with because it's so easy -- a perfect dinner for the nights I get home at 6:30. But it does need work.

Easy and tasty sloppy joe recipe. Nothing special, but nice comfort food!

I added worchestire sauce as well...about 1 tbsp.

As several of the other cooks have pointed out, this recipe can be enhanced with the addition of more salt and some ground red pepper. I also substituted ground turkey for the beef, celery for the green pepper, and water for the chicken broth. I also added 1 tsp. ground mustard and 2 Tablespoons of brown sugar. The result is outstanding.

I love this recipe! I have made this recipe several times and I agree, it is somewhat bland. Tonight, I spiced it up a bit. I added 1/2 tsp of Cayenne Pepper, 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes and a dash bit more of Chili Pepper. I'm not crazy about the chicken broth taste, so I reduced the amount to 1/2 cup and evened it out with 1/2 cup water. Perfect. My husband and I love the sweet taste of the corn and the suggested wheat buns. Great for leftovers too.

I made this recipe before and remembered that it needed it bit more flavor, so I added a couple of tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce and about a third of cup of ketchup and it was incredible! I will definitely make it again, either for a weeknight dinner or a bbq or get together.

This is delicious - I hardly ever eat meat, but every now and then I get a craving and this meets expectations every time. My husband and I love the corn in it (I use thawed frozen).

My family loved this recipe, and we will be making it again. It was easy (save for crying over the onions!) and quick. The corn makes it special.

This is a very good recipe but I agree with other reviewers that it needs a little help. I used ground turkey meat and added 1/4 cup of brown sugar to sweeten it up. Have already made another batch to store in the freezer!

My family enjoyed this and I will make it often. I brown the buns in the broiler which helps keep the sandwich from being soggy.

I loved this recipe. I made it exactly as directed with the exception of adding 2 small packets of splenda to the meat mixture. I tend to like sweetness in my sloppy joes and the splenda made it perfect without adding calories. I have since made this recipe again and frozen it. It defrosts very well.

I substitute ground turkey for the beef to make it a little healthier (my husband doesn't notice with all the sauce and other flavor) and use whole wheat buns - always toasted. Very yummy!

This was very good and easy to put together. I used about 2 cups of frozen corn instead of the can. Next time will try ground turkey. Very tasty!! A definite repeat.

This recipe was great and easy! Good for week night meals. There are so many things you can add to make this different every time you make it too.
