Ingredients

  • 2 tomatoes (about 3/4 pound)
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon capers
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons extravirgin olive oil
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  1. 1. Cut each tomato vertically into 6 slices. Arrange on a serving plate; sprinkle with basil and capers.
  2. 2. Combine vinegar and next 5 ingredients in a small bowl; stir with a whisk. Pour vinegar mixture over tomatoes.
