Sirloin Steaks with Mushroom Sauce and Chive-Garlic Potatoes

    I thought this was a fabulous recipe....the steak part, that is. I didn't bother with the packaged mashed potatoes, but did my own buttermilk mashed potatoes and steamed haricots verts. I loved the sauce on the sirloin steak...seems like a "gourmet" steak recipe, but so simple!

    Truly OUTSTANDING. Quick and easy...great Fall/Winter meal because you make it in a skillet. My wonderful boyfriend made this for me in his electric skillet. PERFECTION. Served it with roasted garlic and shallot mashed poatoes and a nice baby greens salad. Delicious! It's in our favorites!

    Delicious! I cooked a whole 1-pound top sirloin steak and made my own garlic/chive mashed potatoes using fresh garlic. My mouth waters just remembering how good it was!

    nothing special...but then again we make a different version of steak and mushrooms and this one seemed very bland next to it. def good for people starting out cooking :) i felt it needed more flavors. i added garlic after a taste and it made it better but not in the running. :)

    how to find tender meat? Every cut other than filet is chewy. any ideas?

    This recipe was excellent and really easy. I added some dijon mustard to the wine sauce to add more depth of flavor. The trick with the sirloin steak is to be sure not to overcook it. I did 3 minutes on each side and then let it rest with the sauce on top and it was perfect. Will definitely make this steak recipe again!

    Thought it was bland. Not one of my favorites. I love 99 percent of CL's recipes, but I won't make it again.
