We rated this recipe an 8.5. I omitted the sugar at the end though. I also used a cookie sheet that was sprayed with olive oil to get the green beans to come up better. This was a very good recipe to try. Next time I will add some garlic and onion powder at the end in lieu of the sugar.

- 2 pounds small, thin, fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1. Preheat oven to broil. Snap off and discard tough ends of asparagus. Arrange in 2 (15- x 10-inch) jelly-roll pans. Drizzle with olive oil.
- 2. Broil, in 2 batches, 5 1/2 inches from heat 7 to 8 minutes or until crisp-tender. Sprinkle with sugar, salt, and pepper.
