Good solid recipe, but can make it more healthful and five star with just 5 simple changes. 1. Instead of just ground beef, use 1/2lb. ground: beef, pork and veal. Totaling 1 1/2 lbs. of meat 2. Add 1/2 tbsp. paprika, basil and thyme 3. Replace ketchup with 1/3 cup tomato sauce mixed with a can of drained diced tomtoes mixed 4. Replace yellow mustard with stone ground mustard 5. To make the top less sweet, we half the brown sugar This is one of our favorite recipes. Oatmeal is so much more flavorful and texture pleasing than bread, or bread crumbs. Also, more healthful.

I absolutely love this recipe! We've had a family meatloaf recipe I've followed for years. Thought I would try something new and fell in love with it! The oatmeal and milk make it so moist. And the topping is just right for my boys..a little bit of sweet. I usually add a package of dry onion soup mix to give a bit more flavor;you can add your own spices at will.
