Sandwich Cookie Filling
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup water
- 1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar, sifted
- Combine shortening, salt, and vanilla in a medium mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until blended. Add small amounts of water alternately with sugar, beating at low speed until blended. Beat an additional 8 minutes at medium speed until smooth.
- Note: Frosting may be stored at room temperature or in refrigerator for several days.
