Sandwich Cookie Filling

Yield about 2 1/3 cups


  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar, sifted

How to Make It

  1. Combine shortening, salt, and vanilla in a medium mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until blended. Add small amounts of water alternately with sugar, beating at low speed until blended. Beat an additional 8 minutes at medium speed until smooth.

  2. Note: Frosting may be stored at room temperature or in refrigerator for several days.
