Royal Icing

Yield Makes about 1 1/4 cups
Royal Icing is used as a decorative icing for our Cut-Out Butter Cookies.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 1 tablespoon clear vanilla extract

How to Make It

  1. Combine all ingredients and 4 tablespoons water in a mixing bowl. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until firm enough to pipe but still spreadable. (Cover with a damp cloth to prevent a crust from forming while icing.)
