1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup water
2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
1 cup vodka
3/4 cup fresh lemon juice (5 lemons)
Crushed ice
Rosemary sprigs (optional)

Preparation

1. Bring first 3 ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring just until sugar dissolves. Cover and remove from heat; let stand for 20 minutes. Strain through a fine sieve over a bowl, reserving liquid; discard solids. Cover and chill.
