Roast Turkey with Sherry Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 whole(s) apple
  • 2 stick(s) butter
  • 1/4 cup(s) dry sherry
  • 16 pound(s) turkey

Preparation

Preheat oven to 325. Remove giblets and nect from turkey and set aside. Rinse turkey under cold water and drain well. Season inside and out with salt and pepper. In a bowl beat butter with sherry. Rub mixture over entire surface of bird. Put apple in cavity. Roast uncovered for about 4-5 hours. Juice should run clear and meat thremometer shoud register 180. Baste bird with its own juices often during roasting. Let stand 20 minutes before carving.
