Ingredients
- Cake
- 2 1/2 cup(s) plain flour sifted
- 1 cup(s) buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cup(s) sugar
- 2 cup(s) Crisco oil
- 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
- 1 teaspoon(s) salt
- 1 teaspoon(s) vinegar
- 1 teaspoon(s) dark cocoa
- 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla flavoring
- 2 ounce(s) red food coloring
- 2 eggs
- Icing
- 1 stick(s) unsalted butter
- 1 box(es) confectioners sugar
- 1 package(s) 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla flavoring
- 1 cup(s) pecans chopped
Preparation
- CAKE:
- Preheat oven to 350. Cream sugar and oil; add eggs. Beat well. Sift together flour, salt and soda; set aside. Mix together food coloring, vinegar and cocoa; add to sugar and oil ingredients. Add vanilla flavoring. Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk; blend well. Pour batter into 3 round cake pans or 1 sheet cake pan. Bake for about 35 minutes. Let layers cool thoroughly after baking.
- ICING:
- Mix butter, sugar and cream cheese; add vanilla flavoring and nuts. Ice cake.
