I have been making the same pizza sauce for years with tomato paste, water and spices. I decided to check My Recipes for something new. This recipe is very good. I used dried basil and garlic powder instead of fresh garlic. I added some salt to taste, too, as the organic diced tomatoes and paste I used were low sodium. I think next time I will put it in the blender to smooth it out a bit. Hubby liked it and he is my pizza connoisseur. Will definitely make it again. It makes much more sauce than my old recipe.
I agree with the other reviews. This sauce is awesome! I've used fresh basil when I had it and dried basil when I didn't and it came out terrific either way. It has an incredibly fresh taste, much better than anything I've ever bought. What I really like about it is that it doesn't have to be cooked. I make it a day before I need it so the flavors can really combine. Perfect pizza sauce.
This sauce is awesome! Been making it for years and it is always great. This sauce is the reason I started growing fresh basil. Everyone who tries "my" pizza always raves about how good and fresh tasting the sauce is. After making this Tony's pizza dough with this fresh sauce recipe, even the best pizzeria in our town is just good compared to our excellent home made pizza.
