The simple combination of pumpkin purée and maple syrup delicately spiced with pumpkin pie spice transforms into a thick sauce that has endless possibilities. This multi-purpose sauce comes together easily with a few minutes of heat on the stove, therefore you can make it ahead of time or at the last minute if you need to. Drizzle the sauce over morning waffles, pancakes, or French toast. You can use it to sweeten coffee or tea for an added jolt of warm spices, or stir it into your oatmeal and yogurt. For savory foods, it can act as a glaze for roasted pork or ham in order to achieve a sweet and salty flavor profile. If you happen to have leftovers, it stores well in the refrigerator for later uses.

How to Make It

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine maple syrup, pumpkin purée, butter, pumpkin pie spice, and a pinch of salt. Bring to a low simmer until mixture slightly thickens, about 6 to 8 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve immediately.

Step 2

Seal in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
