  • 1.25 cup(s) all-purpose flour sifted
  • .25 teaspoon(s) baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon(s) baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) ground cloves
  • 1 1/3 cup(s) sugar
  • 1/3 cup(s) soft shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup(s) canned or cooked pumpkin
  • 1/3 cup(s) water or milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) vanilla
  • 1/2 cup(s) chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup(s) raisins


  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Stir together: flour - cloves
  3. Beat together until light and fluffy in large bowl:sugar - eggs
  4. Add and beat in: pumpkin
  5. Add dry ingredients in 3 parts, alternating with water or milk, and vanilla
  6. Fold in: nuts and raisins
  7. Pour batter into greased 9x5 inch loaf pan
  8. Bake about 1 hour
