Pretzel Cookies

Yield about 5 dozen

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup ground pecans

How to Make It

  1. Cream butter in a large mixing bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.

  2. Combine flour, baking powder, and spices in a medium mixing bowl; add to creamed mixture, stirring well. Stir in pecans.

  3. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. With floured hands, roll each ball into a rope, 10 to 12 inches long; twist ropes into pretzel shapes. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets.

  4. Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove pretzels from cookie sheets, and cool on wire racks.
