Potato Soup

    This is really close to the way that I make my potato soup. I use softened cream cheese instead of the sour cream, and I add quite a bit more bacon. I usually use a coupon from PrintableCouponsandDeals.com to make my bacon cheep or free though, so it goes a long way.

    Excellent recipe for a cold winter evening! Can't even tell the difference between it and its higher calorie counterparts.

    Easy and good on a cold night but a little too thick. I had to add more milk and a lot more flavor.

    Bland, bland, bland. I made this recipe this past weekend and it was so boring. I tried adding extra bacon, additional spices and extra cheese to try and jazz it up a bit, but no luck. Both my husband and I disliked it and we ended up getting rid of the left overs. Super bummed because I was so excited to try.

    So, so easy and tasted great! I used an immersion blender in the crock pot (rather than a masher) for a smoother texture. Everyone loved it!

    I made this last night. I must say I have had better. Like other reviewers who said the soup was bland I have to agree. I would add more salt and pepper to taste rather than sticking with the described amounts. Also, I have made a better potato soup on my stove top in a lot less time and with a lot more flavor than this recipe. Probably won't make this again.

    The soup itself was bland and just okay. However, with green onion, cheese, bacon, and sour cream on top it was pretty good. I added some garlic powder to the soup when it was cooking to give it more flavor since other reviewers said it was bland. I also had to add a little more water to the slow cooker at the beginning to cover the potatoes. The recipe didn't say they had to be covered, but I was concerned about the potatoes discoloring before they cooked, especially using the low setting on the slow cooker. At the end I tried to mash the soup with a potato masher per the recipe but I wasn't getting anywhere near a smooth consistency. I ended up getting out the blender instead. I think this recipe could use some tweaks but it still turned out okay.

    I made this today and this recipe was bland until I added CHIVES & more pepper to the soup mix ;). I did use about 12 slices of turkey bacon too. Family favorite...enjoy
