Poached Pears and Vanilla Ice Cream

    This was great! I saw the beautiful red poached pears and wanted the color, so I replaced 1 cup of water with 1 cup of wine, then reduced the sauce to a syrup to pour over the pears and ice cream. It was delicious! (We did have to cook it longer to get the color, but it was well worth it!)
