Poached Pears

Savor the sweet flavor of this poached pear dessert. Drizzled in rich hot fudge and beautifully presented, this dish begs to be eaten.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 6 Bosc or Bartlett pears
  • 1 cup hot fudge, warmed

Preparation

Mix water, sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Peel pears and put in hot liquid; simmer gently until pears are tender, about 25 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer pears to a rack to cool. Cool cooking liquid separately.

Serve 1/4 cup pear syrup with each pear. Top with fudge.
