Pineapple Frosting



frosting for one 2-layer cake

1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained


Combine first 4 ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Stir in vanilla and pineapple; mix well. Cool completely.
