Chipotle chile powder gives this taco filling a wonderful smoky flavor.
1/2 cup frozen chopped onion
2 teaspoons bottled minced garlic
12 ounces ground turkey breast
1/4 cup raisins
1 teaspoon chipotle chile powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
8 (6-inch) corn tortillas
1/2 cup diced peeled avocado
2 tablespoons slivered almonds, toasted
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
How to Make It
Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, garlic, and turkey; cook for 4 minutes or until turkey is done, stirring to crumble. Stir in raisins, chile powder, cumin, salt, cinnamon, and tomatoes; simmer 6 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.
Warm tortillas according to package directions. Spoon about 2/3 cup turkey mixture onto each tortilla; top each tortilla with 1 tablespoon avocado, 1 1/2 teaspoons almonds, and 1 1/2 teaspoons cilantro; fold in half.

Wonderful recipe!! After the amazing flavor, the second best part is the simplicity - everything comes together so quickly. I made the recipe exactly as written and would not change a thing. Husband said that we have to add this into the rotation - perfect endorsement for me!
Pulled out this recipe for the second time, and remembered why I hung onto it. SO good. Yes, raisins and cinnamon - but there's plenty of savory in there too. I like it with cilantro mixed in, and in flour tortillas with cheddar cheese. You'd never know it's turkey. Very tender, flavorful meat. It was too spicy for the little kids, but they liked the flavor, so next time I'll try regular chili powder and throw in some smoked paprika.
Awesome recipe. Super fast, easy, and delicious. It tastes just like a chipotle spice packet that my husband and I used to buy, but better. I didn't have any chipotle chili powder, so I added in some canned chipotle. We also didn't add in the almonds or avocado or cilantro. Instead we topped them with cheese and sour cream. We'll definitely be making this recipe again!
My rule of thumb on this website is to trust the readers-anything with a rating of 4 or less doesn't get made in my kitchen. But I'm here to tell you that this recipe is the exception! The reviewers here who gave it a bad rating don't know what they are talking about. When I first read the recipe I thought, almonds, cinnamon and raisins in my tacos? No thank you. But this is amazing. The flavor is sweet, yet earthy. It comes together so fast and is an absolute favorite in our house. Serve it with a side of Spanish rice and you've got a meal that can't be beat!
