The Perfect Hamburgers For Two

Yield
A great hamburger begins with the patty. Try this no-frills version to perfect your technique.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

How to Make It

  1. Prepare grill for medium-high (350 to 400 degrees) DIRECT heat.

Using hands, gently combine beef, salt, and pepper. Shape into 2 (4-inch-wide) patties. Using thumb and forefinger, lightly press middle of patties, creating an indentation in center of patties. Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes.

Grill, covered with grill lid, to desired degree of doneness. (See chart at right for times.) Remove from grill, and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
