Peppermint-Coated Pretzels

This treat is rich and festive! I chose not to include the peppermint candy, and opted instead to sprinkle the pretzel clusters with red sugar sprinkles (I wanted a HINT of peppermint, not too much). Also, I used traditional pretzel twists and spread them out across the wax paper, since I felt the pretzel nuggets wouldn't give me the distribution I wanted (little bit of pretzel, lots of chocolate). The result was delicious, my husband could not keep his hands off long enough for the treats to harden! I will certainly be distributing these treats around the office as Christmas gifts.

I also thougth they were great. I did not add the crushed peppermint candies, but did increase the extract to one teaspoon. I would absolutely make them again.

This was a nightmare! Chocolate would not melt before pretzel nuggets became hard and impossible to eat. I may make this again using a microwave to melt chocolates and then add pretzels.

Can anyone tell me if this recipe would work with the dark chocolate. My family prefers the dark, but I do not want to ruin the recipe (and money spent on all that chocolate) if it is not feasible to use the dark. Thanks for any help out there.

I made this in December. It was so delicious. The only thing I changed was I used 1 bag of peppermint baking bits instead of the peppermint candy. The baking bits just melted, and gave it a reddish color. Perfect for a Holiday sweet to give to your neighbors or friends. I also used pretzel twists instead of the nuggets. I just broke them up a bit. I'm making this again tonight, but for Valentine's Day! I'm missing the baking bits, but I did add the 1/2 tsp peppermint extract. I hope it will be just as good.

This recipe didn't work for me. My crock pot, set on low, browned the white chocolate mixture. And the mixture was so thick that it wouldn't stick nicely to the pretzels. I've made similar recipes (using the microwave) with great results - I would opt for another recipe over this one.
