Tried this for thanksgiving on a family who eats salads very rarely. I asked "who wants salad" and heard nothing but grumbles. Then I pulled a finished one out of the frig, showed it and next thing there wasn't one left. They were so beautiful when done up and tasted heavenly. The only thing I changed was the lettuce. I used Spring Mix instead for more color. Would be great for a shower or party.

This salad has a beautiful presentation and excellent flavor. I substituted toasted almonds for the bacon.

I've never served salad at Thanksgiving before, but will always include this one from now on. It was, surprisingly, one of the favorite dishes served! What a wonderfully flavorful, yet very simple recipe. Variations that I will try in the future: adding thin strips of red onion and/or walnuts or pecans. Highly recommended!

I prepared this for our Christmas get-together last night and it was a big hit. I used really good pears from Harry and David. Very pretty and tasty.
