Peach-Basil Syrup

Peach-Basil Syrup offers a nod to the state of Georgia when this flavored syrup is added to your julep. Muddle this cocktail with a peach slice.
Yield: Makes 3 1/3 cups
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 (5.5-oz.) cans peach nectar
- 1 split vanilla bean
- 15 fresh basil sprigs
Preparation
- Boil sugar and water, stirring often, 2 to 3 minutes or until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat; add peach nectar, vanilla bean, and basil sprigs, and cool completely. Cover and chill 24 hours. Strain syrup; discard solids.
