Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce

  • 2 tablespoon(s) Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Butter
  • 1 Medium onion, finely diced
  • 4 clove(s) Garlic, minced
  • 2 can(s) (15 oz ea.) Tomato sauce or marinara sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • dash(es) Sugar
  • 1 cup(s) Heavy cream
  • Parm cheese, to taste
  • 1.5 pound(s) Fettucine


  1. 1. cook pasta to al dente, drain - reserving 1 c. pasta water

  2. 2. heat butter and oil over medium heat - add onion and garlic, saute for a minute or so - pour in tomato/marinara sauce - add salt, pepper and sugar to taste - stir and cook over low heat for 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally

  3. 3. remove from heat and stir in cream - add cheese to taste and then check seasonings - stir in pasta and serve immediately (thin with pasta water, if needed)
