Party Mix with Almonds and Apricots

Almonds are rich in monounsaturated fat, while apricots and cereal provide iron and fiber. Our version of party mix has half the fat and sodium of the traditional mix. Scoop party mix into clear gift bags, and secure the top with ribbon.

Ingredients

3 cups fat-free sourdough pretzel nuggets
3 cups crispy corn-cereal squares (such as Corn Chex)
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1 (6-ounce) bag low-sodium baked bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces (about 3 cups)
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
Butter-flavored cooking spray
1 (6-ounce) package dried apricots, each cut into quarters

Preparation

Preheat oven to 250°.

Combine first 4 ingredients. Spread pretzel mixture in a jelly-roll pan. Combine the chili powder, cumin, and salt. Lightly coat pretzel mixture with cooking spray; sprinkle with the chili powder mixture. Bake at 250° for 15 minutes, and stir in apricots. Bake for an additional 30 minutes, stirring once.
