Parmesan Cheese Toasts make the ideal accompaniment to your favorite soup. We like the hit of freshly ground pepper to the toast.

6 ounces French bread baguette
6 teaspoons butter
1 ounce shaved fresh Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper


Preheat broiler. Cut baguette in half lengthwise; cut each half into thirds. Spread cut side of each piece with 1 teaspoon butter; sprinkle evenly with shaved fresh Parmesan cheese and freshly ground black pepper. Arrange pieces, cut sides up, on a baking sheet. Broil 2 minutes or until cheese melts.
