Papayas

Introduce baby to the tropics with this fruit that's high in vitamin C. While very ripe papayas can be mashed with a fork, you'll usually have better results when you steam them before pureeing.

Yield:

1 cup or 4 (1/4-cup) servings (serving size: 1/4 cup)

Ingredients

1 ripe papaya (about 1 pound), peeled, halved, and seeded

Preparation

1. Place papaya in a vegetable steamer. Steam, covered, 8 minutes or until very tender.

2. Place papaya in a food processor; process until smooth.

Cooking Liquid Fruits puree well because of their high water content. For most of these purees, you usually won't need to add more water, but we've suggested you save the cooking liquid until you puree the fruit just in case you need to thin it.
