This was excellent! I have tried other oven-baked french toast recipes that ended in disappointment, but even my husband (who doesn't normally like french toast) enjoyed this one. I thought it was great! The pieces absorbed almost all the liquid overnight and puffed up so nicely in the oven. I used Pepperidge Farm french toast and sprinkled some cinnamon over the pieces before baking. Will definitely make again - for just our family or for company!
I served this for overnight guests, and it was wonderful. It was so easy to prepare and very tasty. I love that you can make it the night before and just bake it the next morning. I misread the last part of the recipe that said to remove it from the baking dish and put it on baking sheets to bake. I just left it in the baking dish, and it turned out great--and fewer dishes to clean. The only thing I would do differently is to lightly butter the baking dish.
