Yield enough for one 10-inch cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 (16-ounce) packages powdered sugar, sifted and divided
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make It

  1. Combine shortening and one package of sugar; beat well. Add remaining ingredients, beating until smooth.

  2. Note: Icing may be stored in an airtight container in refrigerator for several days.
