Orange Custard Sauce

Yield 3/4 cup (serving size: 3 tablespoons)


  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3/4 cup 1% low-fat milk
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make It

  1. Combine egg and sugar in a medium saucepan, beating well with a whisk. Add milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, about 15 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat, and stir in orange rind and vanilla. Pour into a small bowl; cover and chill 30 minutes.
