Orange-Cinnamon Toast

Yield 4 servings


  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange rind
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 slices bread
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened

How to Make It

  1. Combine sugar, orange rind, juice, and cinnamon in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 8 minutes or until syrupy.

  2. Spread one side of each bread slice with butter; place bread, buttered side up, on baking sheet. Spread 1 tablespoon sugar mixture over each slice.

  3. Broil 4 inches from heating element until browned. Serve immediately.
