This was a fabulous cake! I think the key was that I used freshly ground cardamom, not the pre-ground stuff from the supermarket. The essential oils from the ground pods gave the cake a deliciously spicy aroma and flavor. I also thickened my icing (but added more orange rind to add flavor) and iced when the cake was cool.

The flavors were delicious, but the cake came out dry. Next time I will cut the baking time by 10 minutes and increase the orange flavor. It was great with tea.

I would cut back slightly on the cardamon, but overall the cake was really good and moist.

This has become a holiday staple in my house--everyone loves it. Great as a coffee cake the next day, too.

I added extra orange zest and a small amount of extra oil. Everyone loves this cake. I make it for special occasions.
